Homicide Victim Identified in 2016 St. Tammany Cold Case
Working with their partners with the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office DNA Lab and the DNA Doe Project, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives have positively identified the victim in a 2016 homicide investigation.
In July 2016, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified by a passerby of a badly decomposed body on Highway 90, just east of the intersection of Highway 433. Both of the victim’s arms were dismembered, along with one of his legs (just below the knee). An autopsy determined that the body was that of a male who was approximately 5’10” tall and approximately 65 years of age or older. His death was ruled a homicide with the cause of death being blunt force trauma to the head. Due to the level of decomposition, age and race were unable to be determined at that time.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office obtained a DNA profile for investigators, and that information was sent to Parabon NanoLabs, which specializes in DNA phenotyping. A sketch was developed of what the victim may have looked like, and that sketch was disseminated to the media in 2016.
Over the course of the next several years, STPSO detectives investigated several leads to identify the victim, with no positive results.
In April 2019, while conducting a natural death investigation in Mississippi, detectives with the Biloxi Police Department were made aware of a human foot located in a bucket on the property of a recently deceased individual. After DNA connected that foot to DNA on file for the body found in St. Tammany Parish in 2016, detectives with the Biloxi Police Department contacted St. Tammany detectives.
After countless hours of investigation, which included conducting numerous interviews and combing over a large amount evidence, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives, thanks to assistance they received from the LSU FACES Lab, the non-profit DNA Doe Project and the Biloxi Police Department, were able to establish a positive identification of their victim.
In addition, detectives identified a relative of the victim living in the northern United States, and that relative provided a DNA sample to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office DNA lab compared the two DNA samples and confirmed the identity of the victim as Kleanthis Konstantinidis.
But what is the rest of the story? Who was Kleanthis Konstantinidis? What led to his death?
STPSO detectives also established Phillip Pointer, who was the deceased individual in Biloxi Police’s 2019 death investigation, as the primary suspect in Konstantinidis’ death.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives are continuing their investigation and are working with their law enforcement partners in Mississippi and the St. Tammany Parish Coroners DNA lab to determine the location of the homicide.
“I applaud our investigators who worked this very complicated case and sought out available resources and technology to identify the victim,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “I am thankful for the cooperation between our detectives, the St. Tammany Coroner’s Office DNA Lab, the LSU FACES Lab, the DNA Doe Project, Parabon NanoLabs and the Biloxi Police Department. They all played a role in identifying our victim and locating his next of kin.”
Deputy Injured During Arrest of Unidentified Man Caught Burglarizing Mandeville-area Business
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested an unidentified man who was caught in the act of burglarizing a Mandeville-area business. Shortly before 4:30 a.m. Friday (October 7, 2022) morning, STPSO deputies were dispatched to a business in the 4900 block of Louisiana Highway 22 near Mandeville in reference to a burglary in progress.
When deputies arrived, they observed a man inside the business using power tools in an attempt to gain entry to the business’ safe. He exited the business through a hole he had cut in the side of the building.
The man, who was armed with a firearm, began fighting with deputies in an apparent attempt to elude capture. He was ultimately taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol unit. A second altercation occurred as deputies were attempting to secure him in the rear seat of the patrol unit. An STPSO deputy was injured during the altercation.
Both the man and the deputy were transported to a local area hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.
The man, who did not provide his name nor have identification on his person, was arrested on one count each of Business Burglary, Resisting Arrest and Aggravated Battery. He was booked as a John Doe into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, pending identification.
10 Year-Old Lee Road Girl Arrested for Menacing
Another student has been arrested for making a threat to bring a gun to school. This time it was a 10 year-old Lee Road-area girl who was arrested October 6, 2022 by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office on a misdemeanor menacing charge after telling classmates she was going to bring a gun to school and shoot another classmate.
Deputies with the STPSO became aware of the incident after a parent of one of the classmates contacted school administrators. The 10 year-old was issued a summons and released to a parent on a custodial agreement to appear in court, after it was determined she did not have access to any firearms.
“We have made it very clear that threats like this will be taken seriously,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said. “We will continue to work with our schools and investigate any and all threats made at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them.”

17 Washington Parish Businesses Sold Alcohol to a Minor in Latest Operation
In yet another check of parish businesses to see if any will sell alcohol to a minor, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover operation on September 29th and 30th. Twenty-eight parish businesses were visited by a minor wishing to purchase alcohol. Clerks at seventeen parish business establishments willingly sold alcohol to a minor without checking for proper identification.
Bogalusa businesses which sold alcohol to a minor were:

- Chevron on Sunset Drive
- Chevron on Highway 10 east
- Jr. Food Mart
- Pumping Station
- Texaco on Avenue F
- Texaco on Highway 21 South

Franklinton area businesses which sold alcohol to a minor were:
- Town Crier
- Winn-Dixie
- CVS
- Shell
- Bridge Store
- Chevron on Washington Street

In addition to underage alcohol sales, the Diamond Vapor Lounge in Franklinton sold vape items to the underage buyer.
The Varnado Chevron also sold alcohol to a minor.
“To say that this is unacceptable is a gross understatement,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “I can fathom no excuse why any business would sell alcohol to a minor. It’s a simple equation. Check the driver’s license on all purchasers. If the buyer is underage, do not sell them any alcohol. End of discussion.”

Escaped Inmate From Tylertown Captured
Kasie Mitchell, age 27 and of Tylertown, escaped from the Hancock County Adult Detention Center on September 30, 2022. Mitchell was being held on a hold from the Slidell Police Department stemming from a larceny charge in their jurisdiction. Mitchell fled from the area on foot and was later picked up by a passerby.
Mitchell was captured around 7:30 PM on October 4, 2022 in Lawrence County. Also arrested, as accessory, was Sawyer Reid of McCullouogh Road in Pike County.
Commended for a job well done were Lawrence County Sheriff's Office Captain Garrett Bradford and Deputy Chris Wallace, Walthall County Investigator Cole Andrews, and Hancock County Investigators Mike Burkett and Matt Sekinger.
Washington Parish Grand Jury Indicts 6 in First-Degree Murder Case
District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, a Washington Parish
grand jury indicted six Bogalusa residents in the first-degree murder case committed against Travis Edward Davis that occurred on June 15, 2022. Indicted for first-degree murder were
- 43 year-old Teretha Carter-Johnson
- 30 year-old Christopher L. Ramsey
- 46 year-old Freddie McGowan
- 18 year-old Michael L. James and
- 49 year-old Errica Nicole Shreve Ramsey
Teretha Carter-Johnson, Christopher L. Ramsey, Freddie McGowan, Michael L. James and Errica Nicole Shreve Ramsey were also indicted on conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Errica Nicole Shreve Ramsey and Freddie McGowan were indicted on possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies.
Anna Peters, age 55, was indicted on obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence, failure to seek assistance resulting in death, and accessory after the fact.
The Bogalusa Police Department investigated the case and Assistant District Attorney Luke Lancaster presented the case to the grand jury.
Missing Lacombe Man Found Deceased
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body 59 year-old Christopher “Turk” Batiste, a missing Lacombe man. Around midday Wednesday (October 5, 2022), deputies with the STPSO Operations Division located Batiste's body deep in the woods near Barringer Road in Lacombe.
The body was turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office for a determination of cause and manner of death. However, foul play is not suspected.
Batiste, who had health issues, was reported missing Saturday (October 1, 2022) afternoon. Family members last saw Batiste at 2 a.m. Saturday, when a family member dropped him off outside another family member’s residence in the 27000 block of Barringer Road in Lacombe.
STPSO deputies, with the assistance of family, friends and neighbors, searched the woods surrounding Barringer Road on foot and ATV, and investigated all leads of potential sightings with hopes of finding Batiste alive.
“While this is not the outcome we were all hoping for,” Sheriff Randy Smith said, “I want to thank the men and women who continued to search and investigate leads so that the family of Mr. Batiste could have closure.”
Kentwood Woman Killed, Juvenile Injured in Crash
Tuesday (October 4, 2022) afternoon, shortly after 1:45 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 10 at the intersection of LA Hwy 1061 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of 35-year-old Krystina Stewart of Kentwood.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Stewart, was stopped at a stop sign on LA Hwy 1061 northbound at the intersection of LA Hwy 10. At the same time, a 1998 Freightliner semi-trailer truck was eastbound on LA Hwy 10. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Chevrolet traveled into the eastbound lane of LA Hwy 10 directly into the path of the Freightliner. The Freightliner impacted the left side of the Chevrolet.
Stewart was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. A juvenile passenger in the Chevrolet was also unrestrained and sustained serious injuries. The juvenile passenger was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Freightliner was properly restrained and was not injured. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to obey all posted traffic control signs and to remain cognizant of vehicles traveling in all directions when approaching intersections. Also, please make sure you are always making good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued or distracted, follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.

A broad area of low pressure located near the southern Windward Islands has not become any better organized since yesterday. However, upper-level winds are forecast to become more conducive for development and a tropical depression is likely to form over the next several days if the system remains over water while moving generally westward at about 15 mph over the southeastern and southern Caribbean Sea. Heavy rainfall with localized flooding, as well as gusty winds to gale force, are expected over portions of the Windward Islands, northern portions of South America, and the ABC Islands during the next couple of days. 101 Arrested by Slidell Police in “Summer Drug Operation”
Due to the ongoing Fentanyl pandemic, during the hot summer days, the Slidell PD's Narcotics Division targeted dealers and spent most of the summer targeting Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Heroin trafficking in order to reduce the overdose rate. Detectives were able to remove over 300 grams of Fentanyl and Heroin and hundreds of pressed Fentanyl. pills from the streets. During the operation, investigators were able to gather intelligence on dealers, which resulted in:
- 101 total arrests
- 12 were identified as dealers
- Approximately 410 grams of Methamphetamine seized
- Approximately 315 grams of Fentanyl / Heroin seized
- Approximately 224 pressed Fentanyl pills seized
- 11 firearms recovered
- $3800 in U.S. currency seized

Covington Police Offers $2000 Reward for Information
The Covington Police Department is offering a $2,000 cash reward for anyone who has information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrator involved in the shooting that occurred on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the intersection of N. Filmore Street, and W. 33rd Ave. If you have information about this incident, you can contact our Criminal Investigations Division directly at 985-867-1200 and ask to speak with Sergeant Jessica Restel.
The incident referred to occurred at approximately 8:00 PM. Responding Officers discovered two people were injured with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The two victims were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries and both have since since been released from the hospital.
Chief Ferrell said, “We cannot let senseless violence plague our amazing community. It takes our community members with information to come forward to help the entire city become better. Let us work together to keep our city safe!
Two More Washington Parish Jail Inmates Arrested for Aggravated Assault
Following the October 3, 2022 arrest of three inmates for battery on another inmate in the Washington Parish Jail (click here for that story), two additional inmates were arrested on October 4, 2022 for assaulting yet another inmate. Arrested again for aggravated assault are inmates Emerson Dale Johnson and Aaron Sowell.
Johnson, age 31 and a resident of Bogalusa, has been in the Washington Parish Jail since October 13, 2022, after his arrest by the Bogalusa Police Department on charges of two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated flight from an officer, two counts of resisting an officer, obscenity and several traffic offenses. His bond is set at $250,000. He has been in and out of the Washington Parish Jail since 2009 on several arrests by the Bogalusa Police Department. Previous charges include two counts of attempted 2nd degree murder, six counts of possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs, two counts of distribution of illegal drugs, possession of illegal drugs with a weapon present, three counts of possession of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, resisting an officer and other offenses.
Sowell, age 30 and a resident of Bogalusa, has been in the Washington Parish Jail since July 20, 2022, after his arrest by the Bogalusa Police Department on charges of 1st degree rape, carnal knowledge of a juvenile, and two counts of sexual battery. He has been in and out of the Washington Parish Jail since 2013 on charges including indecent behavior with a juvenile, aggravated battery and failure to appear in court.
“It is so sad to see young men engaging in violent behavior both on the streets and after they are incarcerated,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “I remind these young men and others that it is never too late to turn your life around and become a contributing member of society.”
Slidell Police Report Busy Start to “Spooky” Season

"Spooky season has officially kicked off, bringing with it, it’s FULL MOON drama. The first incident of the weekend started with a report of a suspicious male walking around Olde Town area at approximately 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning, with a firearm concealed in his waistband. When officers located the male, he told officers there was an altercation with someone, but he did not pull out his firearm. Thankfully, no one was injured and the male was subsequently arrested for Illegal Carrying of a Firearm…no, he does not have a concealed carry permit. In the meantime, his friend tried to help him NOT get arrested…and well, it didn’t work out very well. He and his bestie shared a cell that night.
One hour later, another report of a subject, near Bunny’s Lounge on Pontchartrain, was observed holding a rifle standing near a black jeep. When officers arrived, the male then fled in the Jeep towards Bayou Liberty. The vehicle ended up on Gause Boulevard West where officers were able to stop the vehicle. The officers observed the rifle in the rear seat of the Jeep. Two male subjects were removed from the vehicle. During the stop, one male tried to make his way to the front passenger side of the vehicle, where it was later discovered a loaded 9mm handgun was concealed. During the investigation, officers learned that the rifle was shot one time, and a shell casing was located in a parking lot near Bunny’s Lounge, which matched the same ammunition in the rifle. The male passenger was arrested for Illegal Discharge of a Firearm.
Ten minutes after officers responded to Bunny’s Lounge, Sergeant Morris observed a 60’s model Camaro operating recklessly in Olde Town. It was at this moment the driver observed Sergeant Morris and thought it was a good night for a race. A pursuit took place on Fremaux, and with the help of some St. Tammany Parish deputies, they were able to stop the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and is facing many charges.
While it was a very dangerous and busy weekend for our officers, who handled hundreds of calls for service, we are proud of their diligence and hard work! Our #1 goal is to keep our community safe by continuing to serve and protect the City of Slidell."

A broad low pressure system is located a few hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Upper-level winds are expected to become less conducive for development by Wednesday and Thursday. Teen Arrested After Telling Classmate He Planned to ‘Blow the School Up'
A 14 year-old Mandeville-area boy has been arrested on a Menacing charge after admitting he told another student Monday (October 3, 2022) morning that he planned to blow up his school, Monteleone Junior High. The teen told deputies he was just joking.
After it was determined he did not have access to any firearms or explosives, he was issued a summons for Menacing (misdemeanor) and released to a family member on a custodial agreement to appear in court.
“We will continue to take threats like this very seriously,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said, “Parents, please talk to your children and explain the seriousness of making comments like this, even in a joking manner.”
Three Washington Parish Jail Inmates Arrested
Three Washington Parish Jail inmates were arrested today (October 3, 2022) for physical assault on a fourth jail inmate. Inmate Elisha Brown initiated the assault and was joined by inmates Travon D. Washington and Aaron Little in the unprovoked assault on the inmate victim.
Elisha Brown, age 20, has been in the Washington Parish Jail since August 28, 2021, after having been arrested by Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives. A resident of Wood Scale Road in Hammond, Brown is charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of Xykie Barker. Brown also has additional charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, battery and three counts of theft of a firearm. His bond has been set at $350,000.
Travon D. Washington, age 21, also has been in the Washington Parish Jail since August 28, 2021, after having been arrested by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office. A resident of Driftwood Street in Amite, Washington is charged in the same murder of Xykie Barker. He also faces charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, two counts of battery and three counts of theft of a firearm. His bond has been set at $560,000.
Aaron Little, Jr., age 18, has been in the Washington Parish Jail since July 1, 2022, after having been arrested by the Bogalusa Police Department. He is charged with 1st degree murder, armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, illegal use of a weapon and battery. No bond has been set for Little.
“Being inmates does not prevent additional arrests,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “If you do a crime, you will be arrested and prosecuted. These three young men are already facing serious charges and now they are accumulating additional charges. Violent behavior is not tolerated in our community; nor is it tolerated in our jail.”
Agencies Combine to Make Arrest – More To It Than First Thought!
On Sunday (October 2, 2022), a Franklinton Police Department lieutenant was en route to work when
he observed a vehicle outside the town limits being driven in a reckless manner. He called the information in to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and he and a Sheriff’s Office lieutenant encountered the suspect vehicle stopped at a gas station in Franklinton. The vehicle was identified as the one being driven in a reckless manner.
A computer check of the driver, Chad Thompson, age 37 and a resident of Tall Pine Drive in Franklinton, revealed he had an outstanding warrant through the 22nd Judicial District Court for violation of a protective order. He was placed under arrest for that warrant.
Thompson then gave permission for officers to search his vehicle. A quantity of illegal drugs, a shotgun and drug paraphernalia were discovered. Thompson was then transported to the Washington Parish Jail by another deputy who had arrived on the scene.
While further checking the vehicle, officers discovered the license plate had been switched. In addition, the vehicle was equipped with illegal blue headlights and the inspection sticker was fake. The vehicle was then towed by a local wrecker service.
Thompson was booked into the Washington Parish Jail on charges of two counts of possession of illegal drugs, possession of illegal drugs with a weapon present, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a protective order, improper equipment on his vehicle, switched license plate, improper motor vehicle inspection sticker and traffic violations. His bond was set at $6,000.
“Thanks to an alert Franklinton Police Department lieutenant and a quick response from our deputies, a wanted man was removed from the streets of our parish,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “This was a good example of cooperation between two law enforcement agencies in our parish. That is the way it works. All parish law enforcement agencies have a common goal to protect our citizens and we work together to make it happen.”
TPSO Arrests 3 After Shooting at Deputies and Wounding K9
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Chief Jimmy Travis reports the arrest of three individuals following an overnight (Saturday, October 1st) stand-off resulting from shots being exchanged and a TPSO K9 being wounded.
Just before 10:00 PM Saturday (October 1, 2022) night, the TPSO received several calls about two suspicious males walking around with a gun in the Bedico Creek Lane trailer park off CC Road in the Bedico Community east of Ponchatoula. Shortly after arriving in the area, deputies located the subjects and almost immediately began taking gunfire. While one deputy attempted to detain 52 year-old James Loyd, a K9 apprehension was attempted, at which time the other subject, 21 year-old Thomas Loftis, brandished a handgun and fired numerous shots, striking K9 Bella in the jaw.
After deputies returned gunfire, the two subjects fled into the woods.
Loyd and Loftis were located about 1/4 mile away where they had barricaded themselves inside a camper on CC Road. The TPSO Special Response Team (SRT) responded along with the Hammond Police Department and Louisiana State Police SWAT teams and began negotiation efforts. A female, identified as 73 year-old Charlotte O'Reagan, exited the home and told deputies to "come back tomorrow". When further negotiations gave negative results, a chemical agent was deployed into the camper at which time all three subjects exited and were taken into custody just after 2:00 AM Sunday (October 2, 2022) morning.
Thomas Loftis was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder (2 counts) and Injuring of a Police Animal. James Loyd was charged with Accessory to Attempted First Degree Murder (2 counts) and Resisting an Officer by Force or Violence. Charlotte O'Reagan was charged Accessory to Attempted First Degree Murder (2 counts).
"This incident could have ended much worse, and for that we are truly blessed that our deputies are safe and unharmed", says Chief Travis. "K9 Bella also put her life on the line last night to protect her partner. She performed her duties flawlessly and took a suspect's bullet which may have been intended for one of our deputies. While we expect her to make a fully physical recovery, it's our hope she will also return to duty as some K9s are unable to do so after an injury involving gunfire. We love our K9s as members of the TPSO family and wish K9 Bella a speedy return to health.
K9 Bella was transported to MedVet in Mandeville where she was treated for her injuries which thankfully were minor. The extent of damage from her gunshot wound was soft tissue only, and there was no evidence of tooth or bone damage. She is expected to make a full recovery. A special thanks to the Hammond Police Department, Louisiana State Police, and B.B Rayborn Correctional Center for their persistent assistance throughout this incident, and also to the veterinarian staff at MedVet for their urgency in caring for K9 Bella.”

Sheriff Seal Seeks Theft Suspect
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal asks for the public’s help in identifying a white male who stole a Reveal X trail camera in mid-September from a location on private property in the Choctaw Hills Hunting Club. The owner of the camera received images transmitted through his mobile telephone. Obviously, the thief did not realize the images would be electronically transmitted to the camera’s owner. The pictures reveal a shirtless white male near the camera before it was stolen, a white male inside of an unknown structure at an unknown location, and an interior picture of an unknown location.
The theft has been turned over to Washington Parish detectives for investigation. Any person who might be able to identify the male depicted in the images is asked to call Detective Kevin Bond at (985) 661-2021 or the Sheriff’s Office main number, (985) 839-3434.
“Help us identify this thief,” said Sheriff Randy Seal. “We want his name so we can locate him, arrest him and put him in jail. Any person who steals another person’s property is worthy of silver bracelets and a free ride to the Washington Parish Jail.”

South Carolina Woman Killed in St. Tammany Parish Crash
This morning (October 1, 2022), shortly before 1:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a two vehicle crash on Interstate 12 near LA Hwy 1088 in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of 23-year-old Naema Johns of Beaufort, South Carolina.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Johns was eastbound on Interstate 12 in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. At the same time, a 2009 GMC Sierra was also eastbound on Interstate 12. For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai came to a stop in the right lane of travel. The GMC struck the rear of the Hyundai in the right lane. After impact, the Hyundai traveled off the roadway to the right and impacted a tree.
Despite Johns being properly restrained, she sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the GMC was properly restrained and sustained no injuries as a result of the crash. A passenger in the Hyundai was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. The passenger was transported to a local hospital. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued or distracted, follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.

Tylertown Woman Escapes Jail
On Friday (September 30, 2022) at approximately 9:42 AM, Kasie Mitchell, an inmate at the Hancock County Adult Detention Center escaped from the facility. Mitchell, age 27 and of Tylertown, Mississippi was being held at the Hancock County Adult Detention Center on a hold from the Slidell Police Department stemming from a larceny charge in their jurisdiction.
Mitchell fled from the area on foot and was later picked up by a passerby. Mitchell has no known history of violent tendencies.

Drugs & Firearm Seized in Magnolia, MS
On Thursday (September 29, 2022), Agents with the Pike County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and the Magnolia Police Department conducted two search warrants in Magnolia.
Agents seized approximately four pounds of Marijuana, approximately three grams of Cocaine, Schedule II and Schedule III pills, a firearm, and various packaging materials
Derric Hall was arrested and charged with Trafficking of a Controlled Substance (2 counts), Possession of Firearm by Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Truck Sought That Struck STPSO Unit
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle and driver that hit one of their units on Wednesday (September 28, 2022) at approximately 9:30 PM. Deputies with the STPSO Criminal Patrol Division were assisting Louisiana State Police with a fatality crash on I-59 Northbound when a dark colored Nissan Frontier, driven by a white male with a beard and glasses appearing to be in his 20s, sideswiped a fully marked STPSO unit and fled.
Deputies have been unable to obtain a license plate number due to glare from emergency flashing lights. Damage from the hit and run can be observed on the front passenger side area of the vehicle. An ice chest was observed in the bed of the truck and there appears to be a decal of some sort in the bottom right and left corners of the rear window. Based on evidence left at the scene it has been determined the vehicle is between a 2005 and 2018 year model.

Covington Police Arrest Juvenile for Terrorizing
On Friday (September 30, 2022) at approximately 11:00 AM, the Covington Police Department received an anonymous tip that there was a possible threat of a shooting at the St Tammany Parish Fair that was being circulated on social media.
The CPD's Criminal Investigations Division immediately took action to locate the origin of the rumor. It was discovered that there was no credible threat and that the juvenile posted this to generate fear within the community. The juvenile was arrested for Terrorizing.
CPD Chief Ferrell said “We would like to remind citizens and kids who may think it is funny to make up rumors just for laughs. This is a serious charge and we will not tolerate such actions. To put everyone at further ease the Covington Police Department and the St Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office have beefed up their officer presence at the St Tammany Parish Fair and will continue to provide quality protection to ensure everyone has an enjoyable and safe fair weekend.”
