Bogalusa Rapper Arrested in Georgia

According to an article published April 23 in the Newnan, Georgia Times-Herald newspaper, Bogalusa rapper Javorius Scott, also known as JayDaYoungan, was arrested on April 21 in Coweta County, Georgia. Law enforcement officers arrested Scott and six other occupants of a rental property in Senoia, Georgia, while searching for a fugitive. Scott was reportedly in the Atlanta area shooting a video and possibly buying a property in Marietta, according to a spokesman for the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Scott’s girlfriend, 19-year-old Jordan MacKenzie Brooks, was also arrested. Both have been released on bond.

Occupants of the house were charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute, narcotics possession, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Scott and Brooks, specifically, were charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute, narcotics possession and tampering with evidence. Several bottles of codeine cough syrup and several oxycodone pills were also found, along with eleven firearms and $2,949, according to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Times-Herald, Scott was arrested in February, 2020, on a family domestic abuse warrant. He was accused of hitting a pregnant woman, according to authorities in Harris County, Texas. He was reportedly apprehended by police after he was found hiding in the attic of a home. Officers also reportedly seized $24,000 in cash, along with oxycodone, promethazine and several firearms in the home where they found Scott hiding. The article went on to say that Scott is best known for his singles “23 Island,” “Opps” and “Elimination”.

Bogalusa Police Reports Two Shooting Incidents Wednesday Evening / Mayor Provides Statement

On Wednesday (July 27, 2022) at 5:50 pm the Bogalusa Police Department received a call of a shooting in the 600 block of Superior Avenue. Officers found that one victim had been transported by personal vehicle to Our Lady of the Angels Emergency Room. Another victim, still on scene, was critically wounded, was treated by EMS, and then was  transported to the hospital. BPD stated that the condition of the victims cannot be released at this time.

Update (at approximately 11:00 pm on July 27, 2022 : An update from the Bogalusa Police Department identified the victims as Javorius Scott, A.K.A. JayDaYoungan and close family member Kenyatta Scott, Sr. Javorius Scott is reported to have died as a result of his injuries. Kenyatta Scott, Sr. has been transported to another facility and is reported to be in stable condition.

While BPD was working a chaotic scene at the hospital and working the crime scene on Superior Avenue, another shooting took place in the 800 block of Marshall Richardson Road shortly after 7:00 pm. In that case a vehicle was shot, possibly related to the first shooting. The occupants were not hit. Detectives are also actively working that crime scene.

BPD advises that several outside agencies are assisting.

Mayor Wendy O'Quin-Perrette, who is out of town at a municipality meeting, provided the following written and video statements:

"The senseless shooting in Bogalusa is another tragic reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it. First I ask that our residents remain calm while the police continue their investigation. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims family and friends. As your Mayor and as a Mother, I plead on behalf of our community and for our children, enough is enough. Stop the violence! This is not the time for politics. See something, say something. I have contacted the Louisiana State Police asking for for help to assist the Bogalusa Police Department and Washington Parish Sheriff's Office."

Bogalusa Rapper Known As JayDaYoungun Faces Federal Charges

Following his October 30, 2021 arrest by the Bogalusa Police Department, Javorius Tykies Scott, age 23 and a resident of Avenue I in Bogalusa, was held in the Washington Parish Jail on multiple charges including two counts of possession of illegal drugs, possession of illegal drugs with a weapon present, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, obstruction of justice, child desertion, contempt of court, having a switched license plate, second offense child restraint violation and no proof of insurance.

The October 30th arrest follows an incident on August 20, 2021 when Scott was observed driving in a reckless manner in Bogalusa at a high speed with the passenger door of his car open. Once the vehicle yielded to a Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office unit, it was discovered that Scott had two passengers in his vehicle. One was an adult female while the other was an infant sitting unrestrained on the lap of the female. Scott was cited for careless operation of a vehicle, no child restraint and driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was issued a summons arrest to appear in court to answer the charges.

Scott, known as rapper JayDaYoungun, has three previously reported arrests. In April 2020, the Newnan, Georgia Times-Herald newspaper reported Scott was arrested on April 21, 2020 in Coweta County, Georgia. The newspaper reported Scott and other occupants of a rental property were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, narcotics possession and tampering with evidence. According to the Times-Herald, Scott was previously arrested in Harris County, Texas, on a family abuse warrant, accused of striking a pregnant woman. He was reportedly apprehended by police after he was found hiding in the attic of a home. During the arrest, officers seized $24,000 in cash along with oxycodone, promethazine and several firearms where they found Scott hiding.

WVUE television, a New Orleans station, reported on September 20, 2021, that Scott had been arrested on September 16, 2021 by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of accessory to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. The station reported Scott was released after posting a $175,000 bond. The television station also referenced the previous arrests in Texas and Georgia as well as a 2019 arrest in Gadsden County, Florida, on drug charges.

On November 4, 2021, after posting bond for his release in Washington Parish, Scott was retained in custody for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. ATF officers traveled to Washington Parish on November 4, 2021 and took custody of Scott and transferred him to a federal detention facility where he will face federal charges.
