Supt. Dr. Benson Magee
June 7, 1928 - January 16, 2025
Administrative Assistant, Superintendent, Dr. Benson Magee, Founder and Pastor of the House of Faith Church of God in Christ, entered into the presence of the Lord at the blessed age of 96 years and 7 months on January 16, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
Dr. Benson Magee was A Powerful General, A Faithful Servant of the Lord, A man that believed God, and a Devoted Contender of the Faith.
Born June 7, 1928 in a little town in Franklinton, Louisiana, called Clifton. His parents were the late Willie Oscar Magee and Lonnie Magee-Magee. He was the 7th of 10 children.
Educated in Washington Parish.
Received his Doctoral Degree from the Feltus Theological Seminary. He was active in Prison Ministry and held many local, district, and jurisdictional positions of leadership, too numerous to list. He is the Founder (along with his wife and children) and Sr. Pastor of the House of Faith Church of God in Christ. A doer of the Word, and not a hearer only.
He was married to the “Love of his life”, for 72 years until her passing, to the Co-Founder of the House of Faith Church of God in Christ, to his beautiful wife, Missionary Ollie Mae Warren-Magee, and to their union was born eight (8) children.
He served faithfully under four (4) Jurisdictional Bishops:
- Bishop Howard Quillen, Louisiana East Third Jurisdiction,
- Bishop Joseph A. Thompson, Louisiana Second Jurisdiction,
- Bishop W.K. Gordon, Louisiana First Jurisdiction,
- Bishop John White, his first holiness pastor, and foundational leader.
He is preceded in death and reunited in heaven with his parents, siblings, his daughter, Adrian Magee, and most of all the love of his life Ollie Mae Warren-Magee.
He leaves to follow his example and cherish his memory his children; Belinda Magee Walker- Acker (Stephen), Carolyn Magee-Hawkins (James Sr.) Larry Magee, Jerry Magee (Sylvia), Jonathan Magee (Paula) from Georgia, Lisa McGowan (Anthony) and Veronica Magee, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
He also leaves to follow his example and cherish his memory, and labor of love, The House of Faith Church of God in Christ.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at The R.W. Johnson Auditorium 610 T.W. Barker Dr. Franklinton, LA 70438 with Bishop Howard Quillen Jr. and Louisiana East Third Jurisdiction in charge. Interment: Bethel Church of Christ Holiness USA 25333 Harvey Road, Franklinton, LA 70438.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
