Monday (May 18, 2026) afternoon, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office deputies recovered the body of who is believed to be 34-year-old Dustin Sharp of Hammond based on matching physical features including tattoos.

A team of workers discovered the body along the Natalbany Creek north of Highway 22 in the Pumpkin Center area, about a mile from where Sharp's bike was found. The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office will be conducting an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
While that work is underway, detectives continue to encourage the public to share any information it may have regarding Dustin's whereabouts between his disappearance and discovery.
On May 15, 2026 relatives reported Dustin Sharp missing from Oscar Starkey Lane in the Pumpkin Center area. They said he disappeared into the woods on May 10, 2026 after learning upsetting news. His bike was located near a pond in the area that he was known to frequent.
