Obituary

Verdia Mae Dickerson

April 5, 1952 — March 6, 2026

On April 5,1952 a Queen was born, Verdia Mae Dickerson, to the late Thermon and Georgia Mae Brock. On Friday March 6, 2026 at 10:20PM my mother succumbed to Cholangiocarcinoma, a Bile Duct Cancer. She was surrounded by love and serenity as she took her last breath.

At a very tender age she gave her life to Christ. She was a faithful member of Little Union Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout her life’s journey she worked in many fields. Bartending, housekeeping, babysitting and sitting with the elderly. Her greatest joy was cooking. She loved hosting and spending time with family. She fed our souls and warmed our hearts.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Melissa Taylor, Glenn (Demetris) Dickerson, Eric (Demetris) Dickerson, Michelle (Dwayne) Russell, and Joshua Dickerson; siblings, Lawyer Brock, Lawrence (Emma) Brock, Thermon Brock, Nora Lee Dickerson.

Verdia is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Earl Dickerson; parents, Thermon and Georgia Maae Brock; son, Michael Dickerson; siblings, Minnie Dickerson; niece, Bee Roberts, Tony Brock; one grandson, Eric Ramee; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Dickerson; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Brock and Diane) Brock; a brother-in-law, Bay Bay Dickerson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10:00AM - 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Unity Missionary Baptist Church 1192 Magnolia Progress Rd, McComb, MS 39648 with Bishop Lawrence Edward Brock – Officiating.
