Joseph Kevin Magee
November 26, 1963 - November 24, 2025
Joseph Kevin Magee was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Noah and Jessie Lee Magee on November 26, 1963. He was the second youngest of seven children. Kevin accepted Christ at a young age and was a devoted member of Community Baptist Church until he relocated to Franklinton, Louisiana. Upon moving, he joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Kevin attended Cleveland Public and Bratenahl City Schools, where he was known for his rich baritone voice and tall height. During his childhood in Cleveland, the kids on the street affectionately began calling him “Froggie,” a nickname that stayed with him throughout his life. After the family moved to Franklinton, LA, Kevin continued his education and graduated from Franklinton High School in 1982.
Kevin was a quiet soul with big dreams and a creative mind. He was gifted in writing poetry and loved spending time stretched out on the floor watching sports for hours. His typical day included enjoying a good meal and trying to catch a ride into town with whoever was heading out. And if no ride was available, he had no problem walking—confident that someone along the way would stop and give him a lift. Many people in the community would often say, “I gave your brother a ride today…” Kevin was cared for and loved in a unique and special way by everyone who knew him.
A small gesture can go a long way, and the family of Joseph Kevin Magee deeply appreciates all who looked out for him and ensured he was safe throughout the years.
Kevin leaves to cherish his precious memory his two sisters, Margie Lee Magee and Carolyn Coletha Magee-Cunningham (Wendell), both of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Noah Magee Jr. (Juatina) of Fredericksburg, VA, and Lawrence Nicholas Magee of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Noah and Jessie Lee Magee, Sr., and his two sisters, Alexine Magee-Hines and Lena Tracy Magee.
