Calvin Andrew Arinde
November 24, 2000 - October 14, 2025
On November 24, 2000, a beautiful soul named Calvin Andrew Arinde entered this world in Hammond, Louisiana, born to Rhonda Arinde. He was the sixth of seven children, a beloved son, brother, and light to all who knew him.
At the tender age of six, Calvin’s life took a dramatic turn when he suffered a tragic accident that left him with a severe brain injury. Despite being bedridden and totally dependent on others for his care, Calvin’s spirit remained strong and radiant. Doctors said he would not live past the age of eleven, but God had other plans. Through divine grace and the unwavering love of his family, Calvin defied every medical prediction and lived a miraculous twenty-four years. His life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and the sustaining power of love.
Calvin was a proud member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Willie Gallagher, where his family’s faith in God remained the foundation of his strength. Calvin was also a member of the Washington Parish NAACP for the past four years and a honorary member of the Bad Boyz of Louisiana.
A Legacy of Love and Giving
In 2017, Calvin’s name became synonymous with joy and community service through the creation of Calvin’s Christmas Carnival. What began as a simple desire to celebrate his favorite time of year blossomed into a beloved community tradition that touched countless lives.
Held annually on the first Saturday in December, Calvin’s Christmas Carnival brings together families from all walks of life for a day filled with toys, food, music, and education—especially focused on children and individuals with special needs. The event was born out of Calvin’s story and serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusion, compassion, and awareness. Through this celebration, Calvin’s life became a bridge connecting hearts, uplifting spirits, and shining light on the value of every individual—no matter their circumstance.
Each year, the joy in Calvin’s eyes and the smile that lit up his face as he gave back to his community became the heartbeat of the Carnival. It was more than just an event—it was a ministry of love. Through the Carnival, Calvin inspired others to serve, to unite, and to believe that God truly has the final word.
Even now, his legacy continues. Calvin’s Christmas Carnival will live on as a tribute to his enduring spirit, spreading kindness, laughter, and hope for generations to come. To see the happiness Calvin brought to children and families is to witness God’s grace in motion.
