Larry Stevens

March 23, 1942 - October 28, 2025

Larry Stevens, age 83 and a resident of the Canaan Community, passed away early Tuesday morning October 28, 2025 at his home. He was retired after a long career with Southern Natural Gas, during that time he and his family also owned and operated a dairy farm. In his earlier years, Larry served his community and country as a member of the Louisiana Army-National Guard. He loved fishing, different types of hunting and just being in the outdoors. Recently, Larry enjoyed riding in his buggy every day, checking on his property and touring his community, often visiting with his neighbors and friends. He always loved spending time with his family.

Survived by: 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Brent and Missy Stevens, Bradley Stevens all of the Canaan Community; Daughter: Brandi Lee Welch; Grandchildren and Spouses: Brandt and Tristen Stevens, Madison and Lance Mitchell, Charmaine Welch, Rachel Welch; Great-grandchildren: Braxton, Blakely, Lainey, Paisley; Brothers and Sisters in law: Arthur and Voncille Stevens, John Delmar Stevens, Roy and Bobbie Stevens; Sister: Emma Lou Gill; Also numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife B.B. Crawford Stevens, parents Lawson Stevens and Elva Lee Lott Stevens, sister in law Martha Dolores Stevens, brother in law John Henry Gill and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Thursday October 30th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Thursday with Rev. Leroy McElveen officiating. Burial will follow in the Crawford Cemetery.
