Amanda Levene Mizell Brooks

July 13, 1939 - September 23, 2025

Amanda Levene Mizell Brooks, age 86 and a resident of the Oak Grove Community, passed away Tuesday morning September 23, 2025 at Fair City Health and Rehab. She worked alongside her husband in their carpentry business and also operated Brooks Merchandising, traveling around to flea markets and other sales throughout the area. Levene attended Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years and also attended Ben’s Ford Baptist Church for a while. She was an excellent cook, with lemon ice box pie and her delicious biscuits, being just a couple of the family’s favorites. Levene loved sitting on her porch, drinking coffee, looking over her pretty flowers and watching the hummingbirds that visited each day.

Survived by: 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Charles F. “Chuck” Brooks, Jr. of Dora, Missouri, Gregory and Joyce Brooks of Denham Springs; Daughter and Son in law: Karen and Robbie Kennedy of the Oak Grove Community; 9 Grandchildren, with special recognition for love and care given by her oldest grandson Rusty; 3 Great-grandchildren; Brother and Sister in law: Delanus “T.D.” and Dorothy Mizell of Denham Springs; Also numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Brooks, parents James Thaddis Mizell and Amanda Estelle Sharp, sisters Ina V. Galloway, Bonnie Hunt Dial, daughter in law Sharon Brooks and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday September 27th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Derek Dantin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mizell Cemetery.
