7 Washington Parish Businesses Cited for Selling Alcohol to Minors

During the late evening on January 8, 2025, deputies with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office went to over 30 local businesses and attempted to purchase alcohol using underage actors. Out of the businesses tested, 7 sold alcohol to the minors without checking their identification and were cited for this violation.

This operation was funded with a JUDE (Juvenile Underage Drinking Enforcement) grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and was part of a larger effort between the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission to reduce alcohol consumption by minors and make the roads safer for the residents of the parish.

The WPSO press release added, “Thank you to all of the businesses and cashiers who did their job and refused to sell alcohol to minors. Underage alcohol consumption not only poses an immediate threat to the health and safety of those drinking, but is a major cause of accidents that involve others as well, especially on the roads.”
