Tangipahoa Sheriff Sales Moving to Online Auction

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office announces that the weekly Sheriff's Sale will be moving to an online platform.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards says effective April 3, 2024, properties seized and auctioned by the Sheriff's Office will no longer be auctioned at the Parish Courthouse. Instead, prospective buyers will be able to sit in the comfort of their own home or office and make bids on properties listed on a website called, "Bid4Assets".

Through this new platform, buyers will be able to bid on properties in a similar fashion as done on the popular website eBay. Similar features will be available to buyers such as a "watchlist"  for properties they wish to bid on, and the setting of a maximum bid. To get started, buyers can visit bid4assets.com and create a free account and fund a $1,000 deposit to participate in the sales.

Bid4Assets is the leading online marketplace for governments to conduct virtual, public real estate auctions. Bid4Assets collaborated with sheriffs, attorneys and legislators to help pass Senate Bill 140, which was signed into law in 2023. The bill gave Louisiana sheriffs the option, but not the mandate, to conduct foreclosure auctions online. Several other sheriffs’ offices are preparing to move their foreclosure sales online following Tangipahoa’s first sale.
