Melvin Lowe Jr., age 45 and from Franklinton was arrested for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder following an overdose investigation conducted by Franklinton Police Sgt. Trey Johnson. Sgt. Johnson determined that Melvin Lowe Jr. sold heroin to an individual who subsequently overdosed on the illegal drug.
Louisiana law includes the sale of illegal narcotics which results in the death of another individual under 2nd Degree Murder. In this instance, the drug user survived the overdose thus the charge of Attempted 2nd Degree.
Lowe was booked into the Washington Parish Jail. Bond was set at $150,000.00.
