Crash 1. Saturday (December 2, 2023) night, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash on LA Hwy 1065 near Goudeaux Road in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of 40-year-old Paul Dykes of Tickfaw.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Dykes was southbound on LA Hwy 1065 on a Go Kart without lights. At the same time, a 2013 Toyota Tacoma was also southbound on LA Hwy 1065 and behind the Go Kart. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota struck the rear of the Go Kart.
Dykes sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to a local hospital before he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Toyota was properly restrained and was uninjured. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis.
Crash 2. Sunday (December 3, 2023) morning, shortly before 2:30 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 1045 near Courtney Lane in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of 25-year-old Datrevian Hamler of Greensburg.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Hamler was northbound on LA Hwy 1045 in a 2011 Toyota Camry. For reasons still under investigation, Hamler lost control of the Toyota, traveled off the roadway, and impacted a culvert.
Hamler was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Hamler was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Hamler for analysis.
