Joseph Ray Sutherland

January 23, 2000 - December 3, 2023

Joseph Ray Sutherland, age 23 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Sunday morning December 3, 2023 at his home. He was born in Covington on January 23, 2000. Joe was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a young boy and lost his physical mobility at 10 years old, but he never gave up. He was always full of life, had a great sense of humor and remained a true blessing to his family, often encouraging them through the tough times. Joe loved spending time with his siblings, nephews, niece and cousin sharing many laughs and great times. He loved to play his favorite video games, GTA, Call of Duty and Fortnite. Joe enjoyed listening to his favorite music, such as Upchurch and others. He will be forever missed by all those that knew him.

Survived by: Mother and Step-father: Jennifer Toups and Melvin Battles, III; Brother: David Sutherland, Jr. and Kayla; Sister: Brittany Toups and Darien; Grandparents: Gwen and Shay Mousseau; Aunt and Uncle: Tina and Jerry Applegate and their son Devin, a very special cousin; Nephews and a Niece: Blane, David Joseph, Grayson, Noah and Rosa

He was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Beverly Puissegur and great-uncle Kenny Puissegur.
