SCAM Alert From WPSO

The following alert has been issued by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office.

We want to keep you informed and safe from potential scams! Some members have reported receiving suspicious calls from numbers that appear to be linked to Washington-St. Tammany Electric Cooperative, Inc. The person on the other end of the line, who goes by the name James (or any other name), is trying to deceive you. They recently used the number 985-333-1592, but please be aware that this can change.

🔒 Here's what you need to know:

• 1️⃣ WST has NOT been bought by any other utility company, such as Entergy or Cleco. We remain YOUR cooperative, dedicated to serving you.
• 2️⃣ If someone claiming to be from WST is pressuring you about a supposed overdue bill and demanding immediate payment, PLEASE HANG UP IMMEDIATELY! This is a SCAM.
• 3️⃣ DO NOT send any money or personal information to these scammers. Your financial security is our top priority.
• 4️⃣ It appears that the elderly are being targeted, so please inform your family members, especially those who may not have access to Facebook, about this scam.
