James S. Woodward
December 8, 1947 - November 29, 2023
James S. Woodward, age 75 and a resident of the Bogue Chitto Heights community, passed away Wednesday November 29, 2023 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 8, 1947. He was the owner/operator of James Woodward Trucking, hauling gravel and sand throughout the area for over 30 years. James, or J.S., as he was known to many, had the CB handle “Swamp Man” and he enjoyed going to dirt-track car races with his family. He would start his day with a good cup of coffee, or several, and he always ate lunch with his friends at Main Street/Bogue Chitto Café in town. J.S. liked to sit in the rocking chair on his front porch and watch the world go by. He loved the Lord and watched his favorite church TV show all the time. J.S. had a great sense of humor and he loved to joke and pick at his family and friends.
Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: James Woodward, Jr. and Tara Woodward; 4 Daughters and Sons in law: Marie Woodward and Mike Elliott, Wannette Graves, Carol and Jeremy Jenkins, Toni King; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; Brother and Sister in law: Stanley and Trish Woodward; Sister: Judy Glover
He was preceded in death by his father G.S. Woodward, mother Junie Warren Watts, sisters Annie Minning, Sue Dunn and brother Joe Woodward.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday December 3rd from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday with Bro. Gary King and Bro. Mac McElveen officiating. Burial will follow in Nobles Cemetery.
