The First One: Sheriff Daniel Edwards says deputies were initially alerted of a fight involving 6 female students at the high school, just before 8AM. Before the school faculty or law enforcement could become involved in the incident, the parents of the students removed them from campus and relocated to a gas station down the road. Patrol deputies riding through the area happened upon the fight at the gas station where both the students and their parents were reportedly all fighting. The deputies were able to get the incident under control without further incident.
The Second One: The second incident involved a male student who was being disorderly in the classroom. During the incident, at least one teacher was struck by the student. The student was taken into custody and transported to Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center, and his sister was also issued a juvenile citation and released. Because the two charged are juveniles, their identity will not be released.
The Third One: The third incident was a 2-against-1 fight, and the PHS Faculty was able to quickly gain control of the situation without the involvement of law enforcement.
Sheriff Edwards says that because all three incidents occurred back-to-back, and the first occurred both on campus and off campus, the process of interviewing the individuals involved and the reviewing of school security cameras is still in progress. Once all the details are clear, additional charges will be sought for those involved.
