“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”   Psalms 90:12

Larry Dwayne Thompson was the 3rd child of eight siblings born on April 23, 1959 to the parents of Jewel Thompson and Ophelia Elizabeth (Thomas) Thompson in Bogalusa, LA. Larry was a native of Franklinton and Mt. Hermon, LA. He united in Holy Matrimony with Jennifer West and to that union three children were born two daughters, LaDetra and Teeyasia Thompson; one son, Frankie Thompson.

In early childhood, Larry developed a lasting relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ attending Sweet Home COCHUSA, in the mid to late 60’s. In the 70’s he united with Plainview COCHUSA Mt. Hermon LA. In the 80’s he united with Oak Grove COCHUSA in Hammond, LA., and in the mid-90’s he moved to Chicago, IL where he united with Second Temple COCHUSA where he loved his Church family and was an Usher and Chairman of the Brotherhood under the leadership of Elder Lionel Burkhalter and remained a member until his demise.

Larry lived an active and loving life closely connected with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He had a big heart for God, Church functions, friends and family gatherings, dining out, visiting various places and dressing to the max. He really enjoyed the sports world of football, especially the New Orleans Saints.

He leaves to mourn his passing, two children, Ladetra and Frankie Thompson both of Georgia; Two granddaughters, Lavasia, and Iyanna Thompson both of Georgia; Three sisters, JoAnn Thompson, Cassandra Paulette Thompson both of Hammond, La and Jacqueline Louise (Thompson) Winston, of Louisiana; One aunt, Carrie Thomas of Michigan; A very close and devoted cousin, Pastor Lionel (Peggy) Burkhalter of Chicago, IL; a host of family, relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Thomas, Ira Thompson and Lillie (Bickham) Thompson; Three brothers, William Henry Thompson, Rickey Charles Thompson, and Jewel Edward Thompson; One sister, Ella Rose Thomas; uncle, William Henry Thomas; A host of aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.

“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.   I Thessalonians 4:13-18
