Gwen Bell Dawsey

August 5, 1938 - September 25, 2023

Gwen Bell Dawsey, age 85 and a longtime resident of the Blond Community, passed away early Monday morning September 25, 2023 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a nearly lifelong member of the Pentecostals of Lee Road Church, where she served as youth leader and a Sunday School teacher through the years. Gwen operated the Kuntry Snowbarn, a snowball and sweets stand, at her home in Blond for many years. She loved chocolate moon-pies and cokes and enjoyed strawberry swirl shakes and pop-tarts. Gwen liked completing word puzzles and watching game shows, Wheel of Fortune being her favorite. She liked to collect butterfly pictures and paintings. Most especially, Gwen loved being at her home surrounded by her family.

Survived by: 5 Children and Spouses: Connie and Larry Jenkins, Twyla and Mike Droddy, Kelvin and Diana Dawsey, Kim and Dale Jenkins, Trudy and Rev. Russell “Rusty” Barber; 12 Grandchildren; 28 Great-grandchildren; 2 Great-great-grandchildren; Sister and Brother in law: Charlene Hickman and Murphy Hickman, Jr.; Also numerous beloved nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Louis “Topper” Dawsey, parents Willie Bell and Thelma Mizell Bell, brother Harlen Bell, son in law Joel Wilson and great-granddaughter Aimee Dufrene.

Visitation will be at Pentecostals of Lee Road Church (17700 Hwy. 40, Covington, LA) on Friday September 29th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Friday with Rev. Russell Barber, Rev. Rick Maricelli, Rev. Jathan Maricelli and Rev. Joel Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
