Christine Varnado Morgan

December 21, 1934 - May 31, 2023

Christine Varnado Morgan, age 88 and a resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully Wednesday May 31, 2023. She was a native of Washington Parish before becoming a Navy wife to her husband. For 30 years, they lived on different naval bases and served in many areas throughout the country before retiring back to Franklinton. Christine moved a few years ago to be with family in Virginia. She was a member of the Franklinton Garden Club that loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed quilting and, along with her mother, made countless quilts for her family and friends. Christine was always very strong in her faith and was a former active member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton.

Survived by: Husband of 71 years: Ben Morgan of Virginia Beach; Son and Daughter in law: Rev. Clifford and Connie Morgan of Baker, FL; Daughter and Son in law: Valerie and Dan Mervine of Virginia Beach; 6 Grandchildren and Spouses: Justin Morgan, Christina and Eric Young, Aileen and Jon Royce, Frank and Vanessa Oblinsky, Meghan and Coleman Daniels, Morgan and Katie Oblinsky; Great-grandchildren: Laura, Landon, Julia, Jon Jr., Jordan, Jemma, Karim, Adrian, Cameron, Cole, Nora, Sarah; Brothers: Jadell Varnado, Rodney Varnado; Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents David “Britt” Varnado and Juanita Bullock Varnado, brothers J.W. Varnado, Freddie Joe Varnado and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday June 8th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Thursday with Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the San Pedro Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are grandsons Justin, Frank and Morgan as well as Deacons of First Baptist Church
