Marion Monroe Fortenberry, Sr.
August 2, 1938 - March 30, 2023
Marion Monroe Fortenberry, Sr., age 84 and a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 10:15 pm, Thursday, March 30, 22023 at Good Samaritan Living Center.
He was a graduate of Mt. Hermon School. He was a former co-owner/operator of Fortenberry Trucking and served in the National Guard. He was also a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church.
Survived by his children: Lee & Melinda Fortenberry, Monroe & Sondra Fortenberry, Clint & Renee Fortenberry, Eran & Dean Smith, Jamie Fortenberry; 11 Grandchildren: Ethan and Dana Currie, Alex and Anthony LaMarca, Blake and Savannah Fortenberry, Katelyn Fortenberry and Jake Culler (finance’); Hannah & Curtis Hall, Byron Whaley and Weston Fortenberry, Natalie Wells and Ricky Wehrs (finance’) Brandon Wells, and Reedan Smith; 3 Great granddaughters: Adelyn and Amalee LaMarca, Pailyn Fortenberry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Minnie Burch Fortenberry, 2 brothers Hugh Russell and James Lee Fortenberry and 6 sisters Eran Pocorella, Dorothy Powell, Jean Newman, Ginger Ford, Willie Mae Fortenberry and Rachel Fortenberry.
Celebration of Life will be held at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church, Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 with Rev. Calvin Crowe officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift to the family of Marion Monroe Fortenberry, Sr. can be made to Bogue Chitto Baptist Church, 41088 LA-438, Mt. Hermon, LA 70450.
