Obituary

Ellen Louvenia “Mu” Owens McKinley

April 12, 1939 - December 30, 2022

Ellen Louvenia “Mu” Owens McKinley was born on April 12, 1939, in Sandy Hook, MS to the late Reverend Moses Ezell Owens, SR and the late Louisa Harry Owens Hart.   She departed this life on December 30, 2022.

Our Mother united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Varnado, LA at an early age.  She was blessed with three Spiritual Giants as her pastor during her time here.   She accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Reverend B. B. Moses.   After his death, she continued to grow spiritually and became a faithful member of this church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Alphonso S. Nelson, SR.   After his passing, she continued to grow under the Reverend Dr. Byron C. Muse.  During her time at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church she was an active member of the Usher Board, Sunday School, Sunday worship service, and former President of the Senior Women Mission.  She loved to hear the Word of God especially when her pastor was presenting the Word.   She grew to love the late Reverend Dr. A.S. Nelson and his wife Sister Aline Nelson with a strong genuine love that still exists today with Sister Nelson.  She also loved her current pastor, Dr. Muse and First Lady Deborah Muse with the same true genuine love.   She loved to hear him teach, preach, and sing.

She gave birth to five children that she reared in a God-fearing home.   She introduced her children to God early in their lives and continued this spiritual legacy by doing the same for her grandchildren.   She is loved by so many and will be missed by many.

Her memories will continue to live on the hearts and lives of her children; Sheila (Corinthians, SR) Harris, Houston, TX, Sonya Rena Pack & Reverend Lesley D.
