Marilyn Carson Hicks

May 5, 1954 - April 20, 2022

Marilyn Carson Hicks was born on May 5, 1954, in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Nevel Sr. and Mary Carson. Marilyn departed this life peacefully in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 20, 2022.

At an early age, Marilyn became a member of Sweet Beulah Baptist Church. She graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1972. After graduation, she attended Grambling State University and later worked in the medical field until her ailment. On June 23, 1986, Marilyn was united in marriage with the late Robert L. Hicks.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory, her four children: Kiley Kilbourne of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Keela (Eugene) Burdis of Prairieville, Louisiana, Keeda Hicks of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and Diamond Hicks of New Orleans, Louisiana; two step-children: Madeline Martin of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Rodrick (Keisha) Alexander of Harvey, Louisiana; two sisters: Barbara Morgan and Marynell Carson of Bogalusa, Louisiana; her mother-in-law, Valeria Hicks of Bogalusa, Lousiana; sister-in-law, Barbara (Matthew) Collins of Bogalusa, Louisiana; two brothers-in-law: Charles Hicks of Washington, D.C., and Gregory (Gloria) Hicks of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; six grandchildren: Cameron Burdis, Chayson Burdis, Karson Duncan, Amaya Robinson, Nylan Alexander, and Kamerin Alexander; a special niece, Kyra Ball, a special friend, Wanda Shorter, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nevel Sr. and Mary Carson, her husband of 33 years, Robert L. Hicks; two brothers: Billy Harriel and Nevel Carson, Jr; her father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Hicks; sister-in-law, Valeria Smith, and step-daughter, Tina Robinson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27,  2022 from 2:00PM - 3:00PM followed by the funeral service at 3:00PM at Sweet Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Parker - Officiating. Interment will be held at the Ponemah Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
