Obituary

Rev. Lee Voine Williams, Sr.

April 20, 1944 - April 17, 2022

Rev. Lee Voine Williams, Sr. was one of 8 children and born on April 20, 1944, in Angie, Louisiana to his late parents James P. Williams and Francis Peters Williams. He departed this life on April 17, 2022, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Lee Williams, Sr. was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Wesley Ray United Methodist Church where he attended with his mother and siblings. He graduated from Wesley Ray High School of Angie, La in 1964. After high school, He married the love of his life, Josie Mae Williams on October 9, 1965.  Shortly after, he attended Job Corps career training program in Texas where he perfected his craft in Art all while still providing for his family. After graduating from Job Corps, he returned to Bogalusa and he and his wife both joined the Tree of Life Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rev. W.J. Johnson. During this time, Lee worked jobs in healthcare as a CNA and Porter at local nursing homes and industrial jobs at Gaylord formally known as Crown Zellerbach. In the early 90’s, he started his own business called “Williams Wrecking and Construction Co.” as a local professional painter servicing the City of Bogalusa. While running a thriving business, he became employed as a professional painter at the John C. Stennis Space Center (NASA) in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. While there, he made a major impact on the company and those who worked closely with him. He received many awards and recognition for his contributions in modifying and repairing rocket test stands, assisting in the drawing and construction of rocket designs; including the rebuilding of Jupiter C. which was the first rocket to ever launch at the facility. In 2010, he retired from John C. Stennis Space Center after 25 years of service. In 2013, Lee and his wife both became members of the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Bogalusa, La until he passed away.

He leaves to cherish his memories; five daughters, Christina Terrie (Torrance) Gary of Lyman, South Carolina, De’Beauchee Vondell (Toriano) Peters, Sandra (Hilbert) Lewis, Letha Enotris (Robert) Bell, and Pamela Williams all of Bogalusa, LA; seven sons, Lee Vaine (Sidney) Williams, Jr. of Clarksville, TN, Charles (Jodi) Williams of Oxford, OH, James Williams of Jacksonville, FL, John Williams of Gaithersburg, MD, Job Williams (Kristie) Zachary, LA, Daniel (Darcel) Williams of Lacombe, LA and Brandon Williams of Bogalusa, LA; 33 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Mae Williams; daughter, Wilma Jane Dunn; granddaughter, Jo’Leeza Olivia Jane Dunn; father, James P. Williams and mother, Francis Peters Williams.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a funeral at 12:00PM at The Kingdom of God with Rev. M.J. Galloway - Officiating. Interment will be held at the Bogalusa Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
