Two Washington Parish Men Arrested on Weapon Charges

On Thursday (February 10, 2022), two Washington Parish men were arrested by a Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy who made a traffic stop on Bateman Street near Highway 10. The driver, Robert Daniel Watson II, age 41 and a resident of Highway 1056, was arrested and charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The passenger, Travis Beauvais, age 36 and a resident of Highway 10, was arrested and charged with illegally supplying a convicted felon with a firearm.

Watson has several previous stays in the Washington Parish Jail since 2008 on charges that include possession of illegal drugs (6 counts), possession of drug paraphernalia (2 counts), failure to appear in court (6 counts), failure to honor a written promise, distribution of illegal drugs, driving while intoxicated, and possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs.

Beauvais has two previous stays in the Washington Parish Jail. In 2007, he was charged with failure to honor a written promise and in 2019 he faced a charge of contempt of court.

“Knowing you are a convicted felon and flagrantly disregarding the law is without excuse,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “This is the second arrest brought to my attention today that involved a weapon. Our deputies face so many potential dangers when they approach a vehicle and I am always pleased to learn everyone was safe.”
