Sheriff Randy Seal Receives Crimefighters Award

On February 10, Crimefighters of Louisiana honored Washington Parish Sheriff Randy “Country” Seal as their annual Sheriff Champion  Crimefighter. The presentation was made at the Crimefighters annual awards banquet held in Jefferson Parish.

In the presentation, Sheriff Seal was lauded as the “Sheriff who has instituted the toughest, yet fair, crimefighting policies or has been the most proactive when it comes to caring for victims.” In his acceptance remarks, Sheriff Seal stated that victims of crime in Washington Parish will always receive a high priority and the Sheriff’s Office will never relent in the pursuit of those who commit criminal offenses.

Founded in 1993, Crimefighters is Louisiana’s largest organization dedicated to protecting the rights of victims. With its all-volunteer staff, the group regularly lobbies the Louisiana Legislature for stronger laws against violent criminals. In addition, the organization works to provide resources for victims to assist in their emotional, financial and physical recovery. The overall goal of Crimefighters is to make certain that violent criminals who hurt innocent and productive citizens are brought to justice to face the consequences of their criminal activity.

A highlight of the evening was a brief song performed by Harry Connick, Sr., retired Orleans Parish District Attorney, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his long career of fighting crime and advocating for crime victims.
