Samuel W. Wilkes

March 4, 1945 - December 2, 2021

Samuel W. Wilkes, age 76 and a resident of Mount Hermon, died Thursday evening December 2, 2021 at his home. He was a longtime truck driver and diesel mechanic. He was also talented at repairing boat motors and worked on countless boats for many people in the area. Samuel always loved being on the water fishing and shrimping.

Survived by: Children and a Spouse: Lisa Jenkins, Craig and Amanda Wilkes, Sedgie “Bo” Wilkes, Ted Wilkes, Wayne Wilkes; Grandchildren and Spouses: Austin and Mallory Wilkes, Abbey Wilkes, Shon and Kayla Polk, Emily Ard, Amie Mathes, Destinee Mathes, Nicholas and Emiley Graphia, Dustin Wilkes and Stacy, Starla Gentry, Jimmy James Breland, Rose Breland, Tabitha Wilkes and Josh Stafford, Travis Wilkes, Rayven Wilkes, Ar’Bree Wilkes, Destiny Lavignette, Jacob Gros, Chase and Emily Gros, Lauren and Jacob Louvier, Expected grandchild Oakleigh Wilkes; Great-grandchildren: Maesyn Claire Wilkes, Leeanna Mathes, Sammy Wilkes, Larrel Polk, Vaeda Polk, Arie Polk, Emmanuel Gauntt, Rayleigh Wilkes, Parker Wilkes, Kolton Knight, Makenna Williams; Sister: Margaret Miller; Special Friends: Patricia and Janson Burch; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his parents Sedgie Wilkes and Vera Breland Wilkes, son Sammy Elton Wilkes, daughter Patricia Hudson, grandson Sammy E. Wilkes, Jr., great-granddaughters Mikalah Polk, Kalynn Polk, Sadie Wilkes, sister and brother in law Judy and Larry Carruth, brother in law Larry Miller, fiancé Joetta Stevens.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday December 5th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday with Bro. Jacob Gros officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
