Mr. Alan Dewey Blackwell a resident of Cottonwood, AL, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Dothan, AL from COVID related heart issues at the age of 64.

Alan was born on October 19, 1956, in New Orleans, LA to Dewey and Winnie Blackwell of Bogalusa, LA.  Alan is survived by his sister Marsha B. (Jerry) Hood; nephew Darren (Teresa) Hood and their children Madeline and Harrison; niece Angela Hood and her son Kaleb; and nephew William Ashley (Summer) Hood and their children Taylor, Hannah, McKenzie, and Kingston.  Alan is also survived by many cousins related to Fielding Mack and Ellen Adams on his maternal side and Otha and Katie Blackwell on his paternal side.

Alan had a beautiful tenor voice and love being involved in church choirs and singing solos.  He was faithful in attending Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, AL where he resided for the last 7 years.  He was saved and baptized at Suburban Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA.  His next biggest true love was sports statistics.  He kept a log of all kinds of football, baseball, and basketball facts.
