Tropical Disturbances Today

Disturbance 1. Hurricane Delta is a major hurricane forecast to continue moving northward today and then turn north-northeastward tonight. The core of the hurricane is expected at the Louisiana coast this evening.  After landfall, a turn to the northeast is forecast. Significant impacts are expected but weakening is anticipated causing Delta to fall below hurricane strength tonight or early Saturday and dissipate in about 3 days.

Disturbance 2. A tropical wave located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo is expected to move generally westward or west-northwestward.  Gradual development into early next week is expected.  Upper-level winds are forecast to become unfavorable for further development by the middle of next week.
