Alpha Dean Wilson
April 07, 1951 - October 24, 2019



Alpha Dean Wilson passed away peacefully from this life on October 24, 2019 after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during her last hours.

Alpha Dean was born April 7, 1951 to the union of the late Russell and Ethel Harvey Wilson in Franklinton, LA. At an early age she received a formal education at Washington Parish High. After graduating she attended computer school in New Orleans, LA. She later married Bennie Warren in a joint wedding with her sister Clara Wilson. She went to nursing school at Sullivan with a degree in LPN. Alpha Dean worked at Riverside Medical Center where she made history as the first African American Nurse to work there. She is known as the hardest, loving, and caring nurse people had worked with.

Alpha Dean devoted her life to Christ at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness where she served on many boards. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the UCWM local and district secretary, Lady of the year community, Single’s ministry, and a choir member. She served until her health felled and she could no longer do her duties.

Alpha Dean is survived by three children, Erskine (Jackie) Wilson, Denise Wilson, and Nicole (O’Neal) Warren; two step daughters, Bridgette (Earl) Higgenbotham and Carolyn K. Warren; one sister, Sherrie Hewitt; twelve grandchildren, La’Ke Cotton, Knoski Wilson, Chelsea Wilson, Jadwynn Warren, Kendal Martin, KeAndre Martin, Ms. TaRyn Anders, Sikoya Jackson, Jaden Wilson, Caymen Wilson, Earl Higgenbotham, Brittney Higgenbotham; one great grandchild, Elijah “EJ” Barnes; two God children, Benyetta Magee and Keyosha Ladner; and a host of nieces, nephew, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Russell and Ethel Harvey Wilson; three brothers, Russell, Jr., Terrie, and Arnold Wilson; four sisters, Victoria Butler, Elaine Dove, Etta Brumfield, and Clara Wilson; two grandsons, Jalen and O’Neal Warren, Jr.; one nephew, James Wilson; two nieces, Evalda Lackings, and Mary Dove; one great nephew, Nyger Magee.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Sweet Home Church in Franklinton, LA. Visitation is from 9:00a.m. until 1:00p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00p.m. Elder Kevin Golden, Pastor, Officiating.
