Obituary

J.W. "Dub" Magee
February 28, 1937 - December 14, 2018



On December 14, 2018, J.W. “Dub” Magee of Franklinton, Louisiana departed his life on this earth and went to be with the Lord.

He was born on February 28, 1937 to the late Orea Magee and Leamon Magee in Clifton, LA. He had to quit school at a very young age to help survive around the house and worked at S&M Fertilizer of Franklinton, LA for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching sports, hunting, and fishing. J.W. Magee was most definitely a good provider for his family. He was the fifth child out of ten siblings. At an early age, he joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Ned Taylor.

As a young man, J.W. Magee married Elma Jean Dillon Magee where one son was born, the late Richard Earl Magee. Later in his life, he met Ms. Helen Gean Williams and there were eight children and two step children.

He leaves to mourn his children, David Williams of Angola, LA, Renette Magee (Bobby) Bridges of Jayess, MS, Timmy Magee, Steven Magee, Jimmy Magee and Mark Magee all of Franklinton, LA, Marie Magee (Alex) Weary of Tylertown, MS, Daphne (Kendrick) Laurant and Monica Williams both of Franklinton, LA; one brother, Ozziemo (Rhonda) Magee of Picayune, MS; three sisters, Dreace Magee, Hilda Magee Brumfield, and Sylvia Magee all of Franklinton, LA and twenty eight grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orea Magee and Leamon Magee; three brothers, Willard Magee, Emerson Magee, Millard “Billy” Magee; and two sisters, Helen Magee and Lucine Robertson.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 10:00AM – 1:00PM followed by a funeral service for 1:00PM at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Causey, pastor officiating. Interment – Bethel Cemetery.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
