Obituary

Levi Lewis, Jr.
March 26, 1976 - December 12, 2018

Levi Lewis, Jr. was born March 26, 1976, the third of three children to Levi, Sr. and Katherine Lewis. He was loved by family and friends, but God loved him best and called him home December 12, 2018.

Levi exemplified STEAM, before STEAM was an educational term. He was skilled in interpreting and analyzing electrical and mechanical equipment. It was not uncommon for him to repair and/or install technological devices. He was a gifted craftsman with the ability to create woodwork from merely viewing a picture. He was a capable writer often writing poetry, lyrics, or penning letters to loved ones. Though he wasn’t always willing to demonstrate it, he possessed great culinary skills. Levi was a jack-of-all-trades, literally self-educated through just doing and studying.

Levi graduated from Varnado High School class of 1994 and attended Southern University at New Orleans. Later, following his heart and desire to serve and contribute to the well-being of others, he left Southern University to join the United States Navy in January of 1995. Levi received training and gained additional knowledge in electrical/mechanical equipment repair. He was a proud veteran. Several years later with determination and an entrepreneurial spirit, he became a self-taught truck driver. Levi spent several years as an owner/operator carrier. This afforded him the opportunity to work while enjoying the pleasure of traveling the U. S. until his early medical retirement.

On June 1, 2002, Levi married the then Tiffany Gholar. To this union was born Aubrianna Tashay. Those that knew him well, know that Aubrianna was his greatest joy.

Levi was baptized in Mary’s Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. It was evident to those who knew him best, he maintained a personal relationship with God. He frequently discussed scripture, prayers, songs and his many blessings. He would often say, “Use me my Lord. May someone see in me your goodness, love, and mercy.” He embodied those words by the love he showed his family and friends, especially his mother. He was a great asset in assisting her during her time of illness by helping with many tasks, none too large or too small. He truly found joy in helping others.

He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Aubrianna T. Gholar, of Acworth, GA; his parents, Levi and Katherine Lewis, of Varnado, LA; two sisters, Rosalyn (Dwayne) Magee of Geismar, LA and Loleta (Byron) Sartin of Macon, GA; cherished best friend (even after marriage), Tiffany Trawick; 6 nieces and nephews, Katrina, Brandon, Kayla, Karin, Nicholas, and Kelsey; a great-nephew and niece, Kyler and Amaya; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 12:00pm – 1:00PM followed by funeral service at 1:00PM at Mary’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Terrence August – Pastor Officiating. Interment - Moses Cemetery.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
