Fatal Golf Cart Crash Near Abita Springs
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal golf cart crash, which occurred Tuesday (April 20, 2021) night near Abita Springs.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to Quimet Drive northeast of Abita Springs after a family member called to report an elderly female had crashed a golf cart.
Responding emergency personnel located the woman pinned under the golf cart and unresponsive. Medical personnel pronounced her dead on scene and the body was turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office to determine cause and manner of death.
The incident is under investigation and no additional information will be provided at this time.
Polk Named Corrections Deputy of the Quarter
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal has recognized Corrections Deputy Blaine Polk as the Corrections Deputy of the quarter ending March 31, 2021.
“I am so pleased to honor Deputy Polk,” stated Sheriff Seal. “He has demonstrated an exceptional work ethic and performs his daily duties with enthusiasm and professionalism. He is an integral part of the WPSO team and a valuable asset to Washington Parish.”

Missing Child Alert: 14-Year-Old in Pike County
04/21/2021 UPDATE: Martin Scarberry and Chris Brown have been captured. The missing juvenile, Siarra Scarberry, has also been located and is safe. The Sheriff's Office thanks the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Pike Deputies and Detectives, MDOC, US Marshals, FBI, and MBI for their assistance.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has issued an Endangered/Missing Child Alert for 14-year-old Siarra Scarberry of Magnolia, MS, in Pike County. She is described as a bi-racial female, five feet and five inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with brown curly hair and brown eyes. She was last seen Saturday, April 16, 2021, at about 11:00 pm in the 3000 block of Charlie Rhodus Road in Pike County, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and white high-top Fila shoes.Siarra Scarberry may be accompanied by Martin Scarberry or Christopher Brown.
Martin Scarberry is described as a white male, six feet tall, weighing 190 pounds, and cross tattoos on his face. Christopher Brown is described as a white male, five feet and eleven inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, and gray hair.

'Buckle Up in Your Truck’ Campaign
Law enforcement agencies in Washington, Tangipahoa, and St. Tammany parishes are participating in the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission’s “Buckle Up in Your Truck” campaign this month.
As part of this statewide campaign, which runs April 17-24, the agencies will conduct extra seat belt enforcement and checkpoints.
Pickup trucks are twice as likely to roll over in a crash, and Louisiana pickup truck drivers and passengers are less likely to wear their seat belts, creating “a safety double whammy” that the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission is addressing through a seat belt enforcement campaign.
The fine for not wearing a seat belt in Louisiana is $50, and subsequent offenses carry a $75 fine plus court costs.

Pearl River Woman Arrested for Manslaughter of Son
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 74-year-old Sharon Lambert of Pearl River Monday (April 19, 2021) on manslaughter charges stemming from the 2020 death of her adopted, mentally disabled adult son. She was arrested at her Pearl River-area residence following a more than seven-month long investigation into the death of Lambert’s 19-year-old mentally disabled adopted son, Jonathan Lambert.
Deputies were dispatched to the residence on September 9, 2020, after family members reported Jonathan Lambert unresponsive. Responding deputies located Jonathan Lambert deceased on the floor of the residence. He appeared to be severely malnourished and neglected. At that time the body was turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.
While at the residence, deputies also located, Sharon’s Lambert’s elderly husband and two more adult disabled adopted children that were also severely neglected and malnourished, requiring immediate medical care.
In November, 2020, the St. Tammany Coroner’s Office completed its investigation and ruled the death a homicide and determined the cause of death to be complications of dehydration, starvation and neglect. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation and warrants issued for manslaughter in her son’s death and for cruelty to the infirmed for each of the other family members.
Sharon Lambert was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the above listed charges. Bond was set at $100,000.00. Another individual, Dianne Hester (age 62) who also lived at the home at the time, was determined to be equally responsible, but has since died.
“It is always a tragedy when a life is lost. I’m extremely pleased with the persistent work of my investigators who worked tirelessly on this case to ensure the responsible party has been arrested and will be held accountable,” Sheriff Randy Smith said.
