Duwanna Jean Smith

December 26, 1966 - October 19, 2026

Duwanna Jean Smith, age 59, of Prairieville, Louisiana, passed away on Monday October 19, 2026. Her passing leaves behind cherished memories and loved ones who will forever hold her in their hearts. Duwanna built her home in Prairieville, Louisiana, where she shared her life with her significant other, Tim Whitney. Together, they created a place filled with memories, companionship, and the comforts of home.

Duwanna had a special love for animals. They brought joy, comfort, and companionship into her life and held a special place in her heart. Her affection for animals was a reflection of the caring side of her personality. Duwanna will be remembered for the life she lived, the home she created, and the memories she shared with those who knew and loved her. Although she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her significant other, Tim Whitney; her brother Bruce Murray Smith; and her sister, Kristy Kennedy, and their familys, along with other relatives and loved ones who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Bruce and Sandra Smith, and her brother, Jason Smith.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Duwanna's beloved Aunt Nettie, who came to her side during the final chapter of her life. With unwavering love, compassion, and kindness, Aunt Nettie helped care for Duwanna when she needed it most. She was truly an angel during a difficult time, offering comfort, tenderness, and a loving presence. Her selfless devotion will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Tuesday October 27th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Tuesday with Rev. Leonard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Simmons Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Gene Paul Whitney, Randy Anglin, Jared Kennedy, Glynn Maples, Chance Smith, Hoover Dillon. Honorary Pallbearer is Perry Whitney.
