Malcolm Leon Haley

November 14, 1953 - October 5, 2026

Malcolm Leon Haley, age 72 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Monday October 5, 2026 at his home. He was born in Tylertown on November 14, 1953 and for nearly all his life had the nickname “Coon” to his family and friends. He worked for Ja-Roy pest control for many years serving St. Tammany and Washington parishes. Earlier in life, Coon was a crane operator in the ship-building industry. He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering around his shop, whether it was woodworking or anything he could get his hands on. Coon liked to visit flea markets and garage sales looking for that next treasure and he always enjoyed playing cards with his sisters and family on the weekends. He loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and young great-grandchildren.

He is survived by: 3 Children and Spouses: Malcolm Haley, II, Jessica and Gary O’Keefe, Sr., Matthew and Amanda Haley; Grandchildren and Spouses: Billy Potter, Gary O’Keefe, Jr., Codie and Bailey O’Keefe, Alyssa O’Keefe and Jacob Freeman, Damien and Shirley Haley, Brodie and Ru Haley; Great-grandchildren: Abel, Paisley, Adalynn, Aiden, Ella, Ryder, Layton, Sutton; 2 Brothers and Sisters in law: Russell and Terry Haley, Paul and Janet Haley; 5 Sisters and Brothers in law: Denise and Paul Quave, Diane Thompson, Debbie and David Holland, Renee Blow, Joetta and David Revere; Brother in law and Sister in law: Darol D. and Karen Amacker; Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife Debra Amacker Haley, parents Percy Haley and Claudette Stafford Haley, father in law and mother in law Darol E. and Margaret Amacker, sister in law Denise Amacker and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday October 9th from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm Friday with Rev. Chris Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Fleet and Dixie Haley Family Cemetery.
