Helen Bernice Stogner Zimmerman

August 30, 1952 - August 23, 2026

Helen Bernice Stogner Zimmerman, age 73, was born in Franklinton, Louisiana, on August 30, 1952, to her parents, Hillery and Eunice Stogner, and went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2026. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Trent C. Fisher; and sister, Mary Benn.

Left to mourn the loss of Helen is her husband of 40 years, Gary Zimmerman; stepdaughter, Suzanne Zimmerman Sanders; grandchildren, Sara Sanders Davis, Chloe Sanders, and Connor Sanders; sisters, Betty Schilling of Dear Park, TX; Lynn Blossman of Covington, LA; Nancy Lahman of Lacombe, LA; and brother, Herbert Stogner of Amite, LA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen attended school in Franklinton where she grew up and later became a nurse. She loved being a nurse, but was forced to give that up after an on the job accident left her disabled.

Although Helen was plagued by health challenges, nothing made her happier than getting all dressed up and going to lunch with her sisters or spending time making beautiful flower arrangements.

Helen’s family wishes to thank the many kind and loving EMTs, nurses, and doctors who took care of Helen over the years, as well as Dr. Graves for the care and compassion she showed Helen as her doctor for over 30 years.

Helen will be honored with a private memorial service on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
