Rena Mae Thomas Turnage 

April 24, 1933 — September 28, 2026

Rena Mae Thomas Turnage, age 93 and of Franklinton, LA, passed away at her home on September 28, 2026. She was born April 24, 1933, to the late Lucious Thomas and Rebecca Brock Thomas. 

Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, W. O. Turnage; son, Bruce Wayne Turnage; sisters, Louise Martin, Elouise Wood, Ona Faye Breland, and Eva Knight; brothers, Wilson Thomas and Euell Thomas; special nephew, Tyrone Knight; grandson-in-law, Rocky Jenkins.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Teresa Montgomery and Debra Ham (Chris); grandchildren, Amanda Hilton (Wayne), Bruce Scott Turnage (Kim), Brandi Hartzog (Troy), and Robbie Montgomery (Leslie); great grandchildren, Callie Hilton, Bailey Noel, Zoe Jenkins, Avery and Ayden Montgomery, Drew Turnage (Emily), and Karlissa Turnage; great great grandchildren, Darcy Turnage and baby on the way; sisters, Genell Ard and Lucille Kennedy; special niece, Kathy Ann Stover; daughter-in-law, Barbara Turnage; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Mrs. Turnage was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. For over 50 years alongside her husband, she owned and operated Turnage Dairy Farm and often worked as a seamstress. Mrs. Rena was a founding member of Bible Baptist Church and strong Christian lady. Sunday dinners with her homemade BBQ sauce, ice cream, and egg pie will be cherished memories in the hearts of her family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 01, 2026, at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 2:30 PM with Pastor Harold Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow in the Turnage Family Cemetery. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Hilton, Bruce Scott Turnage, Drew Turnage, Robbie Montgomery, Troy Hartzog, and Rodney Wood.

The Turnage family would like to thank caregivers, Shea Hilton and Cheryll Yates, Modern Home Health and Hospice, Larry Montogery, and Chris Ham for all the support and love given them and Mrs. Turnage.
