Ronald Wayne “Ronnie” Ricks

August 24, 1955 — September 18, 2026

Ronald Wayne “Ronnie” Ricks peacefully passed away, surrounded by loved ones, at his home in Canton, MS, on Friday, September 18, 2026. He was born on August 24, 1955 in Kentwood, LA and was 71 years of age. Ronnie was a member of Pinelake Church.

Ronnie grew up competing in sports his entire life and was a graduate of Valley Forge Academy in 1974. Ronnie was known for his love of all things sports, especially anything that involved his beloved Ole Miss Rebels. He enjoyed working out and playing golf daily. He also loved spending time in Oxford and going to sporting events at Ole Miss.

Ronnie retired from the U S Postal Service where he held numerous positions throughout his career. Ronnie and Susan spent their time attending ballgames for the Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants during the Manning years.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Susan Haygood Ricks; his children Rondi Ricks, Canton, MS; Robert Ricks, Baton Rouge, LA; Kristin Rattray (Frank), Mandeville, LA; Joel Cupit (Joanna), Woodville, MS; Grandchildren, Karlynne, John Carey, Shelby, Ian and Cole.

He is also survived by his siblings Layton Ricks and wife, Susan; Judy Garcia and husband, Larry; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Eyvonne Ricks; niece Jessica N. Garcia and Larry Garcia II.

Visitation will be held at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, LA from 10:00 AM until services at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Services will be conducted by Chris Wales. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, LA.

Pallbearers will be Cole Cupit, Brien LeBlanc, Mark Miller, Rick Prine, Nick Rogers, and John Carey Stephens, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be 1974 VFA Football Team Members.
