Barney Wade Ritchie
June 18, 1959 - August 27, 2026
Barney Wade Ritchie peacefully passed away at his home in Bogalusa, Louisiana on Sunday, August 27, 2026. He was 67.
Barney faced many struggles throughout his life and battled addiction, a battle that was not always easy. But through it all, those who truly knew Barney knew his heart and the goodness within him. He was a man of many talents and built a successful career in welding and carpentry. His sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make others laugh will be remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him. Barney loved God and found great joy in singing His praises. At one time, he served as a choir leader and youth minister, sharing his faith and love for the Lord with others. Barney loved his family dearly and enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and being surrounded by the people he loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Ritchie; his stepfather, Jerry Creel; his brothers, Timothy Ritchie, Sidney Ritchie Sr., and Charles Ritchie; his nephews, Bryan Ritchie, Chaney Trahan, Mitch Trahan, Sidney Ritchie Jr., and Brett Ritchie; his special niece, Melissa Ritchie; and the love of his life, Toni Hall. Their love was one that remained close to Barney’s heart throughout the years, and we find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with her and no longer has to carry the pain of missing her.
Barney is survived by his loving mother, Nedrey Creel; his daughter, Brynn Ritchie; his brothers, Jeffrey Smith and Craig Ritchie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
His journey on this earth has come to an end, but his spirit, his laughter, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Until we meet again, Barney. You are loved, you will be missed, and you will never be forgotten.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 beginning at 4:00 P.M. in Ritchie Cemetery in Poplarville, MS.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
