Pike County MS Violent Crime Arrest

On Tuesday (August 11, 2026), at approximately 8:15 p.m., deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 6000 block of Magnolia Progress Road in reference to a reported stabbing and/or shooting and located one victim who had suffered both a gunshot wound and stab wounds. The victim was reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies and investigators on scene quickly developed a suspect and a possible direction of travel and recovered the firearm believed to have been used during the incident.

Approximately one hour and 30 minutes after the initial call, LaJarvus Osby of Magnolia was taken into custody after being located hiding in a wooded area off Lang Road. The arrest was made with the assistance of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Division and Drone Division.

Sheriff Bryant Wally Jones stated: “Violent crime will not be tolerated in Pike County. When something like this happens, we are going to throw every available asset this Sheriff’s Office has at the case. Our deputies and investigators immediately went to work, our K-9 and drone teams were deployed, and approximately an hour and a half later, the suspect was in custody. That’s how it’s done. I’m proud of the men and women of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the teamwork they displayed tonight. We remain committed to aggressively fighting violent crime and protecting the citizens of Pike County.”

***All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law***
