The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested a 14-year-old Hammond teenager for bringing two BB guns to school. He was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of Illegal Possession of a Firearm.
On Wednesday (August 12, 2026), a student at Hammond Eastside Upper School reported to a teacher that another student had a gun in his school bag. The student was immediately taken into custody by the TPSO School Resource Officer (SRO) and two BB guns were discovered in his school bag. There were no threats of violence associated with this incident. The campus was placed on a brief lockdown during the investigation, but at no time were any students in danger.
