Joyce Carr Netherland

December 19, 1936 - August 8, 2026

Joyce Carr Netherland departed this life into God's presence on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the age of 89. She was a lifelong resident of Bush, Louisiana and a member of Sun Methodist Church.

Joyce was a retired school teacher. She taught Physical Education at Bogalusa High School and later taught Science and Physical Education at Fifth Ward Junior High School in Bush until retirement. Joyce enjoyed volunteering with Lulu at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington, Louisiana. She was an active member of the Bogalusa Lions Club where she served as a member of the board of director's and also a director of the Lion's Club Foundation.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Bill" Netherland; parents, Haste and Jessie Carr; her brother, Leo "Billy" Carr and her grandparents.

Left to forever cherish her memory are her sister, Jane Carr of Bush, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Evelyn Carr; nephews, James Edwin Carr, Michael Douglas Carr, Brandon Scott and Brandon Scott Carr; great-nephews, Justin Carr and Dustin Carr; great-nieces, Pattie Wild, Maegan Champlin and their children, all of Carriere, Mississippi;

Joyce is also survived by her four legged children, Lu Lu and Beaux Jangles.

Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Paul Corse, will be held at Sun Methodist Church on Thursday, August 13, 2026 beginning at 11:00am. Friends are invited to join the family on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.

Burial will take place in Grantham Cemetery with Brandon Scott Carr, Michael Douglas Carr, James Edwin Carr, Michael Dustin Carr, Merlin Thomas and Doug Parker serving as pallbearers.
