Willie Mae Rogers McElveen
July 17, 1936 - August 28, 2026
Willie Mae Rogers McElveen, age 90 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away early Friday morning August 28, 2026 at North Oaks Medical Center after a brief and sudden illness. She was a former beautician and the owner of McElveen’s Beauty Salon for many years. Later she served the young children of Head Start as their bus driver for several years. Willie Mae was a longtime active member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid sports fan who loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. She enjoyed watching old western TV shows. Willie Mae always liked to go shopping and out to eat with her best friends Luvenia Jenkins and Frances Morgan. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished all the time she spent with them and her whole family.
Survived by: 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Carol Jenkins, Janet and Will Picou all of Franklinton; Son and Daughter in law: Todd and Jenny McElveen of Franklinton; Grandchildren and Spouses: Dustin Jenkins, Shelley and Alex Brumfield, Cody and Kellie Williams, Chance and Alexis McElveen, Sydney McElveen, Rylee McElveen; Great-grandchildren: Kaedyn Jenkins, Natylee Williams, Everett Williams, Emersyn Williams, Gabe Williams, Charlee Brumfield, Dylan Brumfield, Kelbi Brumfield; Sister and Brother in law: Ladonics and Karey Sharp; Brother in law and Sister in law: James Donald and Ann McElveen; Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Larry Monroe McElveen, parents Bill Rogers and Ella Taylor Rogers, sisters and brothers in law Billie and Ron Cahil, Lillie Merle and Vernell Hamilton, son in law Shelby Jenkins, great-granddaughter Shelby Grace Brumfield, father in law and mother in law Robert and Mammie McElveen, brother in law John Henry McElveen, brother in law and sister in law Woodrow and Verta Mae McElveen and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday August 29th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue Sunday at Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church from 12:00 pm until the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Eld. Duane Ball, Eld. Don Jacobs and Eld. Lerand Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek.
