Ruby Williams Dykes

Ruby Williams Dykes, a resident of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4th, 2026. She was 88 years old.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at Vertical Life Church, 2830 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. The family will receive friends and family for visitation on Sunday, July 12th at 10:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
A Graveside Service will be held in Jackson, Mississippi, at Lakewood Memorial Park South, 430 McCluer Rd, Jackson, MS 39212, on Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
Ruby was born July 25th, 1937, in Franklinton, Louisiana, to the late Howard and Verlie Williams. She lived a life marked by faith and devotion to her family. In her younger years, she worked as a telephone operator before dedicating herself to her family as a homemaker. Later, she worked for the Small Business Administration, from which she retired.
Ruby was a woman of many simple joys. She loved reading, cooking, sewing and spending time with those she loved. A faithful church member throughout her life, her faith was her guiding force and her greatest source of strength. She took great pride in her appearance and was known for being perfectly dressed whenever she stepped out of the house whether she was going to Walmart or to church. Her grace, warmth, and attention to detail left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Doyle Dykes. She is survived by her children, A. Joseph Branton, Susan (Paul) Nordstrom, and Dawn (Mike) Meadows; her grandchildren, Matthew (Johanna) Followill, Madison Pinn, and Ty (Haley) Meadows; her great-grandchildren, Knox Followill, Adrian Followill, Imogen Followill, Hayes Tracy, and Kirby Ray Meadows who is expected in August, 2026.
Ruby will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family and friends, her kind heart, and the dignity and elegance with which she lived her life. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
