Obituary

Eva Jenkins

July 9, 1929 - June 16, 2026

Just shy of her 97th birthday, while at home with her daughter and granddaughter, our Mother, Eva Miley Jenkins (96), peacefully entered into the joyful presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to walk with Him on June 16, 2026 at 2:35 am.

Eva was born on July 9, 1929 in New Orleans, Louisiana but grew up in the Pine, Louisiana area.

Eva married Matthew Jenkins at a young age and lived a happy and fulfilled life with him for 56 years. They settled down in Bogalusa and joined Memorial Baptist Church. They enjoyed many years together working in their garden where they grew abundant fruits and vegetables which they enjoyed sharing with others. Matt passed in 2002.

Eva loved the Lord and she enjoyed encouraging young girls in G.A.’s and various Bible studies. She also loved singing in the church choir.

Only a few days before passing, she asked the Lord for His blessings upon our family in a beautiful, heartfelt prayer. This was her last and most precious gift to us.

Eva loved her family and is survived by her children Larry (Brenda) Jenkins and Carol Crain. Grandchildren Danyelle Crain and David (Melissa) Crain, Shane Mack Jenkins, Bryan (Vicki) Boudreaux, and Frederick (Michelle) Treschwig; Great grandchildren David Lavell II (Ashley) Crain, Katie (Bret) Fleck, Alec and Casen Boudreaux, and Bryce Treschwig; And a very special cousin, Ola Mae Oliver.

She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel Boone and Eliza Miley, her husband Matthew Jenkins, son-in-law D.L. Crain, four sisters: Neva Jenkins, Della Bowers, Azalea Jenkins, and Ada Mae Rigaud, one brother Leon Miley, and various beloved family members.

A graveside service will be held at Hillview Memorial Gardens on Friday, June 19 at 3:00pm. Special friend, Bro. Dennis Allen will officiate.

Special thanks to Passages Hospice, especially nurse Allison Lee, for their care and friendship during her final season.

Honorary Pallbearers are Scott Sharpe, Todd Dean, and Roan Crain.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa.
