Emery Mae Knight

September 5, 1954 – June 14, 2026

Emery Mae Knight (Mrs. Mae) was born on September 5, 1954, in Bogalusa, Louisiana and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 14, 2026, at Riverside Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. 

Mrs. Mae had a deep love for cooking; she worked over 30 years in the restaurant business and was well known for her Chicken and Dumplings and Bingo Burgers. Mae found joy in bringing people together around her table. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and love, where many special memories were made.

She was a faithful member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Varnado, Louisiana. Mae loved Jesus and lived her life grounded in faith, finding strength and peace in him through every season of life.

Family meant everything to Mae, and she treasured every moment with those she loved. Mae leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to our savior, that will continue to live on through her family and all those she impacted.

Survived by her husband of 57 years Vernon Knight, three daughters Sandra (Bobby) Smith, Donna (James) Love, and Krystal (Doug) Turnage. Grandchildren Dustin (Amber) Knight, Porchia Oxner, Kyle (Jennifer) Slocum, Kayla Love, Talyn Love, Robbie Smith, Brandon Smith, Hannah (Julius) Havens, Amanda (David) Bush, Shana (Lakota) Turnage, BJ Schilling, 13 Great Grandchildren, and three sisters Esther (Ronald) Pittman, Mary (Gerald) Keaton, Vickie Penton and one brother Jay (Jennifer) Magee. 

Preceded in death by her mother Dorthy Magee, father Oricie Magee, and her brother Buddy Magee.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, 216 Alabama Avenue, Bogalusa, LA on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Bobby Smith and Rev. Duane Ball officiating. Interment will follow in Rester Cemetery, Varnado, LA.

Pall Bearers Dustin Knight, BJ Schilling, Cameron Turnage, Robbie Smith, Brandon Smith, and Kyle Slocum. Honorary Pall Bearers Douglas Turnage and Talyn Love. 

A visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. service time.
