Gary A. Cothern
October 3, 1951 — June 27, 2026
Gary Cothern, age 74 and a resident of Bogalusa, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with his health, at his home Saturday afternoon June 27, 2026, surrounded by his family. Gary had an insurance agency that he owned and operated for over 30 years. His joy was rock music, good food, and good company.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Bonnie Cothern; a son Chad Cothern; grandchildren and spouses Abigail Cothern and Jonathan Magee, Annabella Cothern; great-grandchildren; Stella Magee and Luca Magee
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred Cothern and Jimmie Cothern; brothers Randle Cothern and Clay Cothern; nephew Shane Cothern; brother in laws Daniel Earl Boyd and Terry Jean Boyd; and other family members.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral, visitation will begin at 12:00noon and continue until the service time of 3:00p.m. interment will be held in Ponemah Cemetery and the Rev. Patrick Miller will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Magee, Sherman Jordan, Jonathan Burdette, Clay Carter, Adam Branch, Adam Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Bienvenu, Greg Smith.
