Statement from Washington Parish Government
Washington Parish Government is proud to announce that work is officially beginning on the 2026 Road Improvement Project with Barriere Construction this week. This project includes roadway improvements in multiple areas throughout the parish.
In addition to contracted overlay work, our Public Works crews are continuing in-house paving operations using the Parish's new La CAT AP455 asphalt paver, allowing us to complete additional roadway improvements more efficiently throughout the year.
With more than 1,000 miles of parish roads to maintain, projects are prioritized based on roadway condition, safety, drainage needs, and infrastructure impact. While every road cannot be improved at once, progress continues to be made across Washington Parish.
Washington Parish Government will provide weekly (click here to follow) updates regarding which roads are scheduled for work, along with any traffic impacts or temporary closures. First up are Yellow Branch Road and Lowe Road, with work scheduled to begin today.
We appreciate the patience and support of our residents as we continue investing in parish infrastructure.
