Another Reminder of Our Dangerous World: 20-Year-Old Busted With Guns & Drugs

The Hammond Police Department reports that on April 8, 2026, the HPD Narcotics Division, HPD Swat Team, and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at an apartment on Morris Road.

The subject of their investigation, Quinton Jennings Jr., age 20 and of Hammond, was not present at the time. During the search, Jennings arrived at the apartment complex, but, noticing police activity, drove away. Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on Jennings, and he was taken into custody. Jennings was found to be in possession of a loaded AR-15 style pistol.

A search of Jennings's residence produced the following:

  • - Micro Draco semi-automatic pistol loaded with a high-capacity magazine
  • - Glock handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device (MCD) and loaded extended magazine
  • - Phoenix 25-caliber semi-automatic handgun with the serial number removed
  • - Glock handgun with two different serial numbers
  • - Large amount of ammunition
  • - Several high-capacity magazines
  • - Spent ammunition catcher
  • - Approximately 128 grams of suspected marijuana
  • - Drug paraphernalia including a digital scale

Jennings was booked on the following charges:

  • - Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • - Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • - Two counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances
  • - Possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number
  • - Possession of a machine gun

Another individual, Tredyn Barnes, 22 years old and of Hammond, was present during the search and was arrested for multiple outstanding warrants through TPSO.

The semi-automatic handgun had been modified into a fully-automatic firearm by a machine gun conversion device (MCD), commonly referred to as a "switch," which is illegal under both State and federal laws. The Hammond Police Department takes these violations seriously and will refer to the investigation the United States Attorneys' Office for potential federal prosecution. This referral will be automatic going forward. Possession of illegal firearms and devices that illegally modify firearms into fully-automatic firearms will not be tolerated.

HPD would like to thank the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and Homeland Security Investigations for their assistance in this investigation.

If you have information on someone possessing and/or selling illegal firearms or devices, please contact the Hammond Police Department Narcotics Division at 985-277-5700.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
