Harold Franklin Perrett
November 29, 1945 - March 29, 2026
Harold Franklin Perrett, age 80, passed away on March 29, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on November 29, 1945, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to John P. “Penny” Perrett and Lucille Wilson Perrett. He graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1964.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a medic during the Vietnam War, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
On August 7, 1982, he was united in marriage to Esther Perrett in Westminster, Colorado. They shared 40 years of marriage until her passing on March 12, 2022.
Harold was a devoted husband and caregiver, standing by Esther through many years of health challenges with unwavering love, patience, and strength.
Harold spent his career in the food service industry, serving as Director of Food Service at several hospitals across multiple states. He began his career in New Orleans, Louisiana, and went on to serve in Hays, Kansas; Shreveport, Louisiana; Detroit, Michigan at Henry Ford Hospital; and Wichita, Kansas at Wesley Medical Center, where he concluded his career.
In recent years, Harold lived with his family, spending over ten years in Hays, Kansas, and most recently residing with his daughter in Tyler, Texas, and Louisville, Kentucky.
Harold had a deep love for movies and was especially fond of the films of Quentin Tarantino and the Coen Brothers, often jokingly claiming Michael Clayton as his all-time favorite. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing his creations with others. In the mid-1990s, while at Hays Medical Center, he hosted a local television program, What’s Cookin’ with Chef Harold, where his quick wit and southern charm turned the show into a small-town cult classic.
In his later years, Harold took great joy in preparing meals at home and sharing photos of his “home-cooked” dishes with friends and family on Facebook. He was also an avid golfer for many years and spent countless hours on the course enjoying the game.
He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Casanova and her husband, Kevin, of Louisville, Kentucky; and their children, Noah, Claire, and Connor; and his son, Eddie Perrett and his wife, Tracy, of Hays, Kansas, and their children, Seth and Ben.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. “Penny” Perrett and Lucille Wilson Perrett; and his wife, Esther Perrett.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa, Louisiana, in the Perrett family plot.
